Franklin Cudjoe, Founding President of IMANI Africa, has raised concerns over the performance of Finance Minister Designate, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, during the recent ministerial vetting. Cudjoe noted that Forson fell short of providing comprehensive details about the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) proposed 24-hour economy policy.
Speaking after the vetting session, Cudjoe expressed disappointment in the vagueness of Forson’s responses. “The concept of a 24-hour economy is ambitious and requires clear, actionable steps. Unfortunately, Dr. Forson’s explanations lacked the depth needed to convince stakeholders about its feasibility,” he remarked.
Dr. Forson, who is expected to spearhead the NDC’s economic agenda if confirmed, emphasized the policy’s potential to drive growth and create jobs. However, critics, including Cudjoe, have argued that without concrete plans, the policy remains more aspirational than achievable.
The vetting session highlighted the growing scrutiny on the NDC’s economic proposals as they seek to distinguish themselves in the political arena. Observers have called for more detailed blueprints from the party to address public skepticism.
