Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has asserted that President Akufo-Addo’s tenure marks the most corrupt regime in Ghanaian history, despite campaign promises to combat corruption effectively.

In an interview on JoyNews’ AM Show on Thursday, March 14, 2024, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe criticized the President for failing to fulfill pledges to eradicate corruption, stating, “We promised the people of this country that we shall put a stop to it. He’s been now the worst in the history of this country.”

He emphasized President Akufo-Addo’s total failure in the fight against corruption, expressing disappointment in the administration’s performance since assuming power in 2017.

Touching on the internal dynamics of the NPP, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe cast doubt on Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s grassroots support within the party, suggesting that his success in securing the flagbearer position was primarily facilitated by President Akufo-Addo’s financial assistance.

“If not for the backing of Akufo-Addo with money, Bawumia couldn’t have won the position,” he remarked.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe highlighted the challenging road ahead for Dr. Bawumia, asserting that he lacks substantial backing from the majority of party members and is currently “in the wrong terrain.”
