Tragic Demise of Nana Mprah Besemuna III’s Official Driver in Krachi

Akwasi Obempah, aged 35 and the designated driver for Nana Mprah Besemuna III, Krachiwura, met an unfortunate end on Thursday, allegedly drowning in the Volta Lake at Krachi in the Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region.

Nana Ato Odyifase I, Akwamuhene of Krachi, informed the Ghana News Agency that the incident occurred when the deceased left the palace to wash the Krachiwura’s official vehicle at the old site before 7:00 a.m. The driver and the vehicle reportedly drifted into the river and submerged.

According to Nana Akwamuhene, a search operation, involving the Marine Police, officials from the Ghana National Fire Service, the Military, and community divers, successfully located the vehicle on the riverbed. The deceased was found lying beside it and was subsequently brought ashore.

The lifeless body of the driver has been deposited at the morgue of the Municipal hospital, while the Toyota V8 vehicle is currently parked at the premises of the Ghana Police Service.

Nana Besemuna, who also serves as the President of the Oti Regional House of Chiefs, promptly reported the incident to the police. The police have confirmed the incident, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
