Parliament’s Majority Bloc Opposes Leadership Change Amidst Speculation

Amidst widespread speculation about a potential leadership change within the Majority in Parliament, a notable resistance has emerged against any such move. There were rumors circulating about the possible removal of Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, with Deputy Alexander Afenyo-Markin as a replacement. The agenda of the National Council and NEC meeting of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday included discussions on this potential change, but no decision was reached.

A group of NPP MPs, led by First Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu, expressed their opposition to any leadership alterations during a media briefing in Parliament. They emphasized their satisfaction with the current leadership, led by Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, and issued a stern warning that they would not tolerate any changes.
