Samuel Atta-Mills, the brother of the late former President Atta-Mills, is urging the government and former Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho, to let the name of his brother, John Atta-Mills, rest in peace. His plea comes in response to President Akufo-Addo’s support for calls to include the late John Atta-Mills’ autopsy report in official public records.
The Odomaa Clan of Ekumfi, led by Mr. Anyidoho, expressed concerns about not receiving the autopsy results 11 years after the late head of state’s passing. In response, Samuel Atta-Mills, who is also a legislator, questioned the obsession with the autopsy report, asserting that the information is already in the public records.
Addressing the issue on JoyFM’s Midday News on January 13, 2024, Samuel Atta-Mills stated that the family possesses the autopsy result. He advised those concerned to conduct due diligence, mentioning that copies of the autopsy report can be found at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and the 37 Military Hospital.
Additionally, he emphasized that he does not share familial ties with the individual seeking Professor Mills’ autopsy result. Samuel Atta-Mills criticized the timing of such requests, linking them to election periods involving President Mahama, and urged political actors to refrain from disrupting the peaceful rest of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills.
