Tensions escalated during the final funeral rites of former First Lady Theresa Kufuor as supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and followers of Alan Kyeremanten clashed at Heroes Park in Kumasi.

The incident unfolded when Mr. Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change, arrived at the funeral grounds. Eyewitnesses reported that supporters of Kyerematen began hooting at some ministers of state, while the former Trade and Industry Minister exchanged pleasantries. In response, NPP supporters retaliated, nearly leading to a clash on the funeral grounds.

Security personnel had to intervene to restore calm at the funeral, preventing further escalation of the confrontation.

Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia took the opportunity to eulogize the late Theresa Kufuor for her significant contributions to national development.

Prominent members of the NPP and high-profile political figures also shared poignant moments with the former first lady during the ceremony.
