The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, has called for enhanced cooperation between the private sector and the government to bolster the nation’s capacity for employment generation. Recognizing the pivotal role of the private sector in economic development and growth, Mr. Osei Mensah stressed the importance of fostering effective partnerships to create more job opportunities for the country’s youth.
Mr. Osei-Mensah made this appeal during the inauguration of the 80th Ghana Oil Company (GOIL) filling station at the Ahodwo roundabout in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. GOIL, a well-established brand in Ghana, has a history of generating employment opportunities for the youth and is renowned for its quality products and services.
Addressing the critical issue of unemployment, Mr. Osei Mensah emphasized that the government alone could not resolve this challenge. He urged private investors to play an active role in opening up additional avenues to create employment opportunities for the country’s youth.
Mr. Kwame Osei-Prempeh, the Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of GOIL PLC, highlighted the benefits of supporting GOIL by stating that patronizing their products equates to investing in future pension returns. He underscored the fact that GOIL had provided employment for over 500 young individuals in the oil marketing industry and had more than 60,000 shareholders.
Encouraging others to become part of the company’s success story, Mr. Osei-Prempeh urged companies, individuals, and the public to purchase shares and become shareholders in GOIL.
Mr. Thomas Domfe, the Middle Belt Zonal Manager, assured customers that GOIL was committed to enhancing its brands and providing improved services. He encouraged customers to provide feedback on any shortcomings to facilitate continuous improvements in service delivery.
Additionally, Mr. Isaac Owusu, the Ahodwo GOIL Station Dealer, urged workers to adopt productive attitudes and behaviors to ensure the delivery of high-quality service to customers.
