Sunyani West Municipality, August 17, 2023: In a remarkable display of community dedication and social responsibility, a physically challenged farmer and entrepreneur, Kofi Vinyo, is spearheading the construction of a police post at the main checkpoint on the Odumase-Kwatire road.
Kofi Vinyo, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Kwatire-based Kofi Vinyo Company Limited (KVCL), an agro-processing company, has already invested GH¢70,000 in the project. The police post, currently under construction, is expected to be completed and handed over to the Ghana Police Service by the end of 2023.
The envisioned police post encompasses essential facilities such as washrooms for male and female personnel, a fully furnished air-conditioned office complete with a laptop computer, and a dining room.
Speaking to JoyNews at Kwatire, Mr. Vinyo emphasized the importance of supporting and motivating the police force as crucial security providers. He highlighted the challenges faced by the police, who often work under harsh weather conditions or without proper facilities. The construction of the police post aims to address these issues and provide a permanent space for the police to ensure the safety of lives and property in the area.
Mr. Vinyo also stressed that this project is part of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, reflecting their dedication to community development and security enhancement.
Residents of Kwatire have applauded Mr. Vinyo’s initiative, acknowledging the significant role the police play in combating crime in the region. The community members expressed concerns about the increasing incidents of theft and burglary in the Odumase, Kwatire, and Adantia areas.
To curb these challenges and promote safety, residents have urged the police to intensify patrols to combat drug abuse and peddling among the local youth. The proactive approach of both Mr. Vinyo and the community underscores the power of collaboration in fostering a secure and thriving environment.
