Mfantsipim and Adisadel College Old Boys Associations Unite for the 2023 Mfantsipim-Adisadel Fun Day Games

On Monday, August 7, a notable event unfolded as the Old Boys Associations of Mfantsipim School and Adisadel College jointly inaugurated the 2023 edition of the Mfantsipim-Adisadel Fun Day Games (MAFDG).

The annual event, which carries a rich tradition, is ingeniously designed to foster camaraderie and social interaction among the alumni of these prestigious institutions. Sports, renowned for its ability to unite, stands as the central theme of the occasion, creating an environment conducive to the desired amicable engagement.

Beyond its sociable essence, the MAFDG also plays a pivotal role in contributing to the growth and enhancement of both schools. The gathering serves as an effective channel for the schools’ alumni to pool resources and raise funds, thereby facilitating the continued development of Mfantsipim School and Adisadel College.

This year marks the triumphant return of the MAFDG after a hiatus of five years, making it the 16th edition of this cherished event.

This year’s event is slated for September 9 at the Ghana Armed Forces Sports Complex in Burma Camp.

The theme for the programme is “Beyond the Rivalry: Uniting through Sports.”

The objectives will be to continue fostering healthy competition and promoting sportsmanship, renewing, building friendships, and creating networking opportunities as well as strengthening the bond between the two schools.

Speaking at the launch of this year’s event, Seth Dzordzorme, a co-chairman of the Planning Committee and an old student of Adisco called on corporate organisations to also add their support to the games.

“Part of the launch idea is to court corporate Ghana to get involved with helping to run the cost into the build-up of the games,” to told Joy Sports.

“There is a lot of expense into it but we believe that as they sponsor they get a mileage out of the kind of calibre of people they are going to be meeting.”

On his end, Kodwo Morgan, an old student of Mfantsipim added: “With the stress in this country, this is an opportunity for people to come and distress while having fun at the same time.

“When you come there, you should expect to have fun. We are doing this because we want to raise enough funds to support our schools.”

Activities on the day will include tennis, 7-a-side football, basketball, golf, board games, jama session and health screening.

A football match between the current school teams of both Mfantsipim and Adisadel will climax the event.

To old boys and other people who are interested in the events, tickets are available for 50 cedis.
