Matilda Amissah Arthur discloses her requests for resignation during her late husband’s tenure
Matilda Amissah Arthur, the wife of the late former Vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, has disclosed that she repeatedly urged her husband to resign throughout his time as Vice President of Ghana. Despite her persistent suggestions, her husband consistently declined to act on her advice.
Matilda Amissah Arthur revealed this information during an upcoming interview on JoyNews’ PM Express Personality Profile. When asked by host Aisha Ibrahim if she wanted her husband to resign due to the demanding nature of his job, she responded with “many times.”
Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, an economist and former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, served as Ghana’s Vice President and headed the economic management team under President John Dramani Mahama. Tragically, he passed away five years ago on June 29, 2018, during a fitness training session. His untimely death shocked the nation, and numerous tributes highlighted his modest demeanor and calm approach to life.
Following the death of President John Evans Atta Mills, Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur assumed the role of Vice President under President John Dramani Mahama. Mills was Ghana’s first sitting president to pass away while in office.
