Nigerian Students Invited to Pursue Postgraduate Studies in Ghana

In a bid to nurture talent and enhance skills in various fields, representatives from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) have arrived in Nigeria to entice students to pursue their postgraduate studies at the esteemed institution.

During a press conference held in Lagos, Prof Justice Bawole, the Dean of the Business School, emphasized Nigeria’s substantial population of youths and their passion for quality education. He highlighted UGBS as a world-class university that offers students the opportunity to receive top-notch training and become leaders in their chosen disciplines.

Prof Bawole, addressing the gathering remotely, asserted that UGBS not only provides a conducive learning environment and expert faculty but also welcomes a diverse community of international students from across the globe. He proudly mentioned Nigerian alumni who have excelled in their respective careers both within and outside Nigeria.

Reflecting on his tenure as the Head of the Department of Public Administration, Prof Bawole noted that 12% of the student population comprised Nigerians. However, he acknowledged a decline in recent years, attributing it to various factors. Consequently, he expressed a desire to attract more Nigerian students to UGBS, which offers both day and weekend programs. The school provides a range of Master of Business Administration (MBA) specializations, including accounting, marketing, health services, finance, human resources management, and information services management. Prof Bawole also emphasized the affordability of the programs and flexible payment options.

In attendance at the event, Ghana’s Consul-General in Lagos, Samanta Gifty Bukari, reaffirmed Ghana’s regard for Nigeria as a senior partner, emphasizing the mutual benefits that both countries stand to gain through educational and trade exchanges. She noted the enthusiasm displayed by international students, particularly Nigerians, upon arriving in Ghana, attributing it to the rich knowledge and exposure to global best practices offered by the university.

Offering further insights into UGBS, Mr. Emmanuel Yaw Dankwa, the International Students Recruitment Officer at the University of Ghana, highlighted the institution’s 61-year history of producing graduates who make a significant impact in both local and global economies. He emphasized the school’s commitment to maintaining its position as a leading business school in sub-Saharan Africa.

As UGBS extends its invitation to Nigerian students, it aims to foster an educational environment that promotes excellence, nurtures talent, and equips individuals with the skills to thrive in today’s dynamic global landscape.
